There is a painting course on every weekend in our studio in Marbella. There is a variety of courses - every course is suitable for a beginner but each concentrates on different elements of painting and different mediums.

Acrylics is the easiest medium to paint in. Do NOT think oh acrylic dries quickly - it does not - our professional paints are very different from other brands and stays wet all day, they are easy to blend and we can show you techniques that you probably won't find in a million art books!
Stage 1 painting course is for beginners or anyone who wants to start painting professionally. You will be amazed at what you learn! Your tutor paints with you. You work from a photographic inspiration and learn: how to prepare your canvas, how to use your brushes, how to mix colour, focal points, tonal values, simple composition and perspective. click for more and dates |

| PAINTING WEEKENDS - ACRYLICS STAGE 2 - GET CREATIVE |
Thsi stage 2 course is for beginners and improvers. If you don't want to paint along with your tutor then this course is for you.
This painting course is in ACRYLICS and you learn: fine art composition (Golden Mean), how to "interpret", light and shade, make working drawings, and professional painting, painting back to front and painting front to back.

OIL painting is about understanding the painting process and the "BLEND".
This weekend course teaches you "Alla Prima:" painting which means "all in one go" (YOU DO not JUST SLAP PAINT ON(!) and hope for the best.

WATERCOLOUR is a difficult medium but once conquered is very satisfying.
We first learn some simple drawing and fine art composition. Then we teach you the 5 basic watercolour methods with some essential tips and methods of working.

ABSTRACT PAINTING means "non objective" form. So abstracts are shapes and form that are not recognisable as a particular image.
We show you how to get inspiration, how to compile an abstract, how to get a "Concept" and then lots of painting methods to achieve "the look" click for more and dates |

| MIDWEEK WORKSHOPS |
You can come and paint any day. (weekends have courses) but week days are for workshops, where students come and paint and the tutors teaches them whatever they need to learn.
Each week/month there is a different topic. Which you can either run with or just paint your own thing! Workshop students are given the opportunity to exhibit in the Studio Gallery every three months.
Workshops are on a monthly basis giving you 6 hours of painting a week for 1 month. |

Our "pop in" days mean you can just come along and paint for a couple of hours or so.
You need to telephone to book though we are getting increasingly busy.
Price is just 10 euros per hour. Incjudes a canvas and all materials.

We have 2 Summer Schools for 2011. Summer schools concentrate on drawing to painting. This is a very professional course with everything you need to be a professional artist! Paint in all mediums and explore line, form and colour. Plus yourself!!

| TAILOR MADE PACKAGES |
We are open every day of the year (apart from religious holidays) so you can come for as long as you require and learn whatever it is you require.
For instance we had a lady from Italy who came to us for three periods of 8 weeks to learn how to become professional artist.
Another lady from the USA came to us for 12 months - 2 days a week.
Some people come for 10 days or a long weekend.

Paint Mediums explained
|
ACRYLICS is the easiest and most exciting painting medium to use. We use the PROFESSIONAL acrylics. The difference is our acrylics do NOT dry quickly but stay wet all day, have 100% lightfast pigment and 100%binder. (ALL WILL BE EXPLAINED!) Students have said what a difference it is using our acrylics!
OILS are fun but more of a "process" to learn - slow to dry but very exciting when you have learnt how to blend and use them properly.
WATERCOLOUR is a slow, controlled process of painting - you are aiming for a wonderful "translucency" of paint. You need to learn some drawing as a good watercolour is based on a good drawing. |
MYTHS AND LEGENDS!!!!
|
ACRYLICS is NOT the "poor man's" equivalent to oils. It is accepted as being equal to oils, now the paint is so excellent.
DRAWING To be a good artist you need to draw and draw and draw!! NOT TRUE. To be a good artist you need to know how to find "inspiration" how to "interpret" how to THINK like an artist, how to find your "mission" and LEARN TO HAVE VISION!!
COPYING IS BAD! Depends what you mean by copying. You start to learn from copying - if you copy good masters. You can learn colour balance, composition and tonal values from good and famous painters.
PAINTING IS THE SAME AS BEING A PAINTER Not true - a painter has vision, ideas and a mission. Your job as a "painter" is to give the public a new way of seeing. Just painting everything and anything is NOT the same!!
As a "PAINTER" You have to develop ideas and a personal identity. WE SHOW YOU HOW!! |
